Carolina Ecosystems is seeking a motivated and energetic entry-level environmental scientist for a full-time position in our Clayton, North Carolina office. The successful candidate will be detail oriented while assisting our project and senior scientists with natural resource investigations. Tasks will be primarily focused on stream determinations, wetland delineations, threatened and endangered species investigations, habitat assessments, map production, and report preparation.
This is a salaried position requiring some travel including overnight and extended day trips. The successful candidate must be capable of performing field work in difficult weather conditions and easily handle terrain obstacles such as fences and streams as well as animal nuisances.
All potential candidates must have a B.S. or M.S. and possess a background in environmental science or a related field. Familiarity with the basics of stream and wetland delineations is required. Working knowledge of ArcGIS is required and Trimble GPS experience is preferred. The chosen candidate will have excellent oral and written communication skills and the ability to work on multiple projects simultaneously while effectively interacting within a project team.
Wetland and Stream Delineations
Map preparation using ArcGIS (prefer experience with v10.5 or higher)
Threatened and endangered species surveys
Plant identification, vegetation inventories, and habitat assessments
Basic knowledge of stream and wetland delineations
B.S. in environmental science/natural resources or similar field
Working knowledge of ArcGIS version 10.x
